Upgrading Of Exhaust Systems For Performance Or Cosmetic Reasons

By Paramount Performance   Posted at  02:07   Performance Exhaust system 1 comment
To upgrade the performance, appearance and fuel economy of a vehicle, just swap it with a high quality exhaust system.

Tasks performed by exhaust systems

  • Removes the by-products of combustion from the engine
  • Eliminates/reduces pollutants from exhaust fumes
  • Reduces and tunes exhaust noise

Parts of exhaust systems

  • Section one - In general this section includes 2 or 3 parts namely, exhaust manifold, downpipe and exhaust headers.
  • Section two - It has connecting pipes, catalytic converter and muffler.
  • Section three - This section consist of tail pipe and exhaust tip.

Materials used in exhaust systems

Exhaust systems are designed from metals, especially steel. Steel are available in different kinds and possess diverse properties. However, today exhaust systems are made from aluminized steel, T304SS and T409SS.
  • Aluminized steel - This coated alloy resists corrosion and works wonderfully in the high-heat situation. Expansion caused by heat is negligible therefore it is often employed in OEP and aftermarket exhaust systems.
  • T304 SS - This is a mid-priced material rarely used in OEM systems but is best for aftermarket exhaust systems. They are rust and corrosion resistant. It does not crack or become hard when exposed to high-heat. Stainless steel expands on heating and so you can hear rattle sound from the system till it warms up completely.
  • T409 SS - It is the most expensive option because it is stabilized using titanium. It will then resist corrosion and swelling, because intensity of heat gets reduced.

Two kinds of exhaust systems

  • Single exhaust system - It maintains car’s factory looks, increases exhaust evacuation, gives better exhaust tone, gives a slight improvement in horsepower, and is inexpensive to install
  • Dual exhaust system - It provides impressive looks but is comparatively expensive. It includes two sets of all section parts, which pains the expense, but the benefits of upgrade are truly worth it.
In general, it is difficult to decide between single or dual Exhaust system. However, you can get them at car repair & customization shops, and online storefronts. Buying online is the best option as you can select from an array of options and get the one with the perfect blend of looks and desired car  performance.

By Paramount Performance   Posted at  23:57   performance exhaust systems No comments
Vehicles run on a simple yet complex mechanism and everything in a vehicle needs to run in an order to be able to function properly and perform well. Exhaust system in this case plays a very important role in letting out the waste gases produced after controlled combustion in the cylinders. If these gases are not let out, the performance of the vehicle would deteriorate drastically, decrease its mileage, and would also cause health issues with the passengers inside the car. Here are the few reasons why exhaust system is essential for every vehicle -

Poor Fuel Economy

You are bound to face with the problem of poor fuel economy when your exhaust system is not working properly or is damaged. Make sure that your exhaust is not leaking; else it can be dangerous for your pocket, environment as well as your car, all at the same time.

Low Performance

The exhaust systems create a reverse pressure on the engine, which is essential for the engine and the car to function properly. For any damage or leakage in the exhaust system, you can be sure that the car would start to behave abnormally, and this would also cause very low performance, forget the driving pleasure.

Lights Up Check Engine Sign

When your exhaust system is damaged or is having a leakage, the sign of check engine would come up. While, this is a good thing for sure, but many people tend to pass it by for weeks and months. The bigger problem is that you wouldn’t know if there is any severe issue coming up with engine as well.

Emissions Check Test Fail

Any car to drive legally as to pass the emissions testing, and if your exhaust system is not working properly, forget about getting the emission test pass certificate. Until the emission test is approved, you won’t be able to drive legally, and this definitely would be an issue.

These are the few reasons why exhaust system is needed in the body and its dangers that you must take note of. It is also known to cause carbon monoxide poisoning in cars, where exhaust system is rusted, damaged or leaking for a long time without repairs being made.
